The USCCC
will lead several Trade Missions to China this year. The first Trade Mission
left for China on April 12 and returned to the U.S. on April
23. Its purpose was to assist U.S. companies in gaining a
first-hand understanding of the opportunities and challenges of the
Chinese marketplace, as well as to establish direct contacts with
potential trading partners and government officials. The Trade
Mission started in Shanghai, and continued to Ningbo, Guangzhou,
Xinhui, Fushan, Zhongshan (where it attended the Zhongshan Xiaolan Light
Manufacturing Fair), Dongguan, and Shenzhen. The Trade Mission’s focus was on plastics,
metallurgical, furniture, fixtures, accessories, lighting and consumer
electronics. In Ningbo, it visited several precision casting foundries, textile factories,
plastics molders, metal stampers and related industries; in Xinhui,
Fushan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, and Dongguan, it visited furniture,
fixtures, lighting, consumer electronics factories, plastics, and
other light manufacturing industries. To ensure the success of the
Mission, we limited the number of members to no more than 15, with
no more than two representatives from the same company.
If you are interested in
participating in future China Trade Missions, please complete our
questionnaire.
In addition, please provide the USCCC with your company's standard promotional literature or annual report. The more complete
a picture the USCCC has of each company and its interests and objectives
in China, the better able we will be to identify and screen potential
business partners and contacts.
After the USCCC has received completed
questionnaires and descriptive literature from prospective Trade Mission
participants, it holds discussions with each prospective participant and
selectes companies to participate in upcoming China Trade Missions. Companies not selected to participate
in a particular China Trade Mission will receive priority consideration
for future trade missions.
In the future, the USCCC intends to offer
Trade Missions which will have a different industry focus. Pollution
control and infrastructure projects, particularly related to the Beijing
Olympics, will be given priority. We would appreciate a response
to this questionnaire
to help in planning future Trade Missions.
