11th Annual U.S.-China Trade
Conference: "What Have We Learned in the Past Decades of
Doing U.S.-China Business?"
Please save the
dates of November 18 and 19 for our 11th Annual U.S.-China Trade
Conference. This annual event will be held at the historical Drake
Hotel in Chicago. The program is in formation, and detailed information
will be sent out in about 10 days.
As we are
entering the second decade of hte 21st Century, U.S-China relationship
has reached a critical moment, in part, due to the enormous trade gap
and huge U.S. Treasury holding by the Chinese government. Yet, there
are many unanswered quesitons that are critical to the financial health
of U.S. and Chinese companies need to be addressed.
- As the U.S.
economy is turning the corner, will the U.S. manufacturers prosper?
Will some of the manufacturing jobs that have been lost in the U.S. in
the last decade ever come back?
- U.S. continues to
experience enormous trade deficit with China; is it a result of the
valuation of RMB? If not, what are the factors that allow the trade
deficits continue to grow? How should U.S. companies prepare for the
continued disputes?
- There is a rush
to Green Technology and billions of dollars have been spent in R&D.
Will those investments ever be paid off? Which country will take the
lead? How can U.S. and China work together? How can U.S. companies
participate in this Green Technology era?
- There are many
reports on Chinese buying into America. Is it a reality or an
overstatement? How should large and small U.S. companies cope with the
emerging China?
- The housing
bubble in the U.S. burst and led to a global economic slowdown. The
housing value in China continues to grow at a speed that is well beyond
the level that we have ever experienced, and in many people's opinions,
its market value has been detached from the underlying economic
fundamentals. Is a bubble around the corner? Can the Chinese government
continue to maneuver the growth?
- It has been over
30 years since China implemented its economic reform. What have we
learned in the past decade in doing U.S.-China business? What the
opportunities and problems that U.S. companies have seen adn
encountered? What are the impact of ever-changing business, legal and
social environment in China on U.S. companies? What have U.S. companies
done to stay competitive? What are they doing at this moment to
position themselves for the future?
This Conference
will strive to address many of those issues. Speakers will consist of
practitioners who have been in the arena dealing with those challenges
on a daily basis. They represent both large and small, low and high
tech, consumer and industrial products companies. They will share with
you their first on the ground experience for us to all work together to
prosperity. For more information regarding the agenda for the
Conference, please refer to the following: Program Agenda.pdf
