U.S.-China Automotive Conference
ˇ°The Dynamic Duo: Challenges and Opportunitiesˇ±
|
|
Significance of the Conference |
|
-
In 2009 China has surpassed the U.S. as the world's largest car market. Vehicle sales soared 46%. Many believe that this may be the beginning of an era. China's auto industry prospers largely because of the support of the Chinese government; improving affordability; and low car ownership. Despite the ever expanding highway infrastructure in China, however, the country's limited space, mountainous terrain, and dense population have potentially imposed certain constraints on the industry's growth. What does that mean to U.S. car and auto parts companies?
-
China makes a lot of cars. However, its quality and technology remain at the low end of the spectrum. As Chinese auto parts companies aggressively acquire technologies through joint ventures, licensing, and acquisitions, what are the challenges and opportunities for U.S. companies?
-
Despite a concerted effort, China-made cars have not been imported into the U.S. on a large scale. BYD, one of the pioneers in battery electric cars, is posed to break this barrier. Is China-made car coming to the U.S. soon? Will Chinese build their cars in the U.S. in the foreseeable future?
-
China races to build green cars. Are they ahead of the U.S.? What are the opportunities for the two countries to work together?
-
This Conference will mark one of the rarest occasions, on which, a large number of senior executives and government officials from both the U.S. and China will converge to meet and speak to conference participants face to face.
