3. Valid passport with an expiration date at least six months
beyond the intended stay in China and at least two blank pages
4. One recent passport-style color photo, with full face, front view,
no hat, and against a plain light background.
5. An applicant born in China who applies for a China visa with a new
foreign passport is required to submit his/her Chinese passport or last
foreign passport with a China visa.
6. Non-US
passport
holders
must
also
submit:

A copy of a valid US
visa or Green Card
- A supplementary visa application form or the V2011B (Download).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
F VISA:
BUSINESS
An F Visa is issued to an
alien who is invited to China for a visit, an investigation, a lecture,
to do business, scientific-technological and culture exchanges,
short-term advanced studies or intern practice for a period of no more
than six months.
No additional requirements.
L VISA: TOURISM
An L
Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for sightseeing,
visiting family members/friends or other private purposes.
No additional requirements.
Z VISA: WORK
A Z
Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for a post or
employment, as well as his/her accompanying family members.
1. A copy of Alien Employment License from the Bureau of Labor in China

Prior to applying for your
Z Visa, you need to apply for the Employment License to the Bureau of
Labor through your employer in China. You must receive the Employment
License before you apply for a work visa.
2. Authorized Notification Form for Visa Application (Download an example)
When you receive the
permit, you will also be issued an "Authorized Notification Form for
Visa Application" that indicates you to apply forthwith for visa in the
US.
3. Physical Examination Certificate for a Foreign Citizen. (Download an example of
Physical Examination Form)
4. If you are also submitting a visa application for your spouse to
live with you in China, you must provide a copy of your marriage
certificate in addition to the application requirements listed for all
visas above.
5. If you are also submitting visa application(s) for your child(ren),
you must provide a copy of birth certificate for each child in addition
to the application requirements listed for all visas above.

X VISA: STUDY
An X
Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for study,
advanced studies or intern practice for a period of more than six months.
An alien who comes to
China to study, short-term advanced studies or intern practice for a
period of less than six months shall
apply for an F Visa. Please see above.

issued by the authorized Chinese unit, and an enrollment letter from
the Chinese school you will be attending.
An applicant who will study in China for more than one year shall also
provide a Physical Examination Certificate for a Foreign Citizen.

G VISA:
TRANSIT
A G
Visa is issued to an alien
who transits through China. Commonly,
this visa is issued to those who have flight connections through China
while en route to another nation.
1. A valid visa issued by the
destination country and an airline ticket
to the final destination location.
