On February 24th, the State Council published “China’s Comprehensive Transportation Network Planning Outline”. [An English summary of the policy can be found here]
The plan details Beijing’s long-term goals to build a convenient, cost-effective, green, intelligent and safe transport network.
Of international interest is the focus on faster construction in about ‘20 international comprehensive transport-hub cities.’ These hubs will provide effective transport to national and international cities.
The list of international comprehensive transport-hub cities includes Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenyang, Dalian, Harbin, Qingdao, Xiamen, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Haikou, Kunming, Xi'an and Urumqi.
