The U.S.-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, a newly formed trade organzation,  is pleased to invite you to “Vietnam Meets Chicago: An Executive Luncheon Reception” and the inauguration ceremony of the organization.

This special event will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park, 200 North Columbus Drive, Chicago, IL 60601.

The program will focus on bilateral trade and investments opportunities between the U.S. and Vietnam in honor of a high level delegation consisting of 10 government leaders from Hanoi, led by His Excellency Pham Quang Nghi, Party Secretary of Hanoi, Member of the Central Executive Committee, and Member of the Political Bureau (Vice Premier rank).  His Excellency Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United States will also attend this special event.

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and the United States has increased greatly since the United States extended normal trade relations status to Vietnam in 2001.  Bilateral trade has reached $29.6 billion in 2013, and Vietnam is now the second largest source for U.S. imports of clothing and a major source for electrical machinery, footwear, and furniture.  Its economy has experienced significant growth due to a shift towards market-oriented reforms in 1986.  The United States and Vietnam are both currently in negotiations over the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement that would cover 12 nations across the Asia-Pacific region, and this agreement will open up new business opportunities for U.S. companies and entrepreneurs.

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and has one of the world's highest population densities. It is considered one of the fastest growing cities in the world.  The executive luncheon will address some of the issues that are relevant to U.S. companies and professionals, and it will give the participants a unique opportunity to get acquainted with decision-makers from Vietnam.
